How to Covert Peloton pedals to be SPD Cleat Compatible and dual Sided

One of our favorite low-cost Peloton Pedal hacks, which is not really a hack, is to install the Venzo SPD Adaptor Converter (Available at Amazon) to allow existing Look Delta Peloton Pedals that ship with Peloton bikes to also become SPD cleat compatible. It's quick, low-cost and works so well, and you get the best of both worlds — now your existing Peloton pedals are upgraded to dual-sided pedals supporting both cleat types — a great value solution.

If you have a Peloton Bike and prefer to use SPD cycling shoes like Tiem Cycle shoes (very popular in the Peloton Community) or Shimano Cycle Shoes — You have to simply alter the Delta pedals on your Peloton bike.

YOU HAVE 2 QUICK OPTIONS:

  1. Switch out the existing Peloton pedals entirely for new SPD Pedals — we have various recommendations in our Peloton Accessories review. Or,

  2. Use the Venzo SPD Converter Kit, available on Amazon. Excellent value, this less expensive option works just as well and converts the other side of an existing Peloton pedal to become SPD compatible. Cool right!

So now your pedals CAN NOW support SPD Cleats on one side, but still supports Delta Cleat cycling shoes on its original side.

Enhance Existing Peloton Pedals to become dual-sided and SPD cleat compatible

Why Change Peloton Pedals to SPD?

For those new to Peloton, Peloton bikes only ship with Look Delta-compatible pedals, which means if you want to clip in you need a Delta Compatible Cleat to attach to your shoe. The cleat connects the shoe to the pedal, so of course, you would want the right compatible cleat type.

[MYN PRO NOTE:] An easy way to tell the difference between the cleat types is, a Delta Cleat typically has 3 holes, and the SPD Cleat has 2 holes. (some cycling shoes can support both types of cleat.)

The other type of clip-in pedal system is SPD pedals which are preferable for indoor cycling as the SPD cleat is smaller and often recessed into the sole that makes it easier for walking around and especially when doing off-the-bike cross-training workouts with some cycling shoe brands like Tiem.

Another reason —cyclists who already own a broken-in pair of SPD clip-in shoes will most likely also want to replace or convert their Peloton pedals for SPD type pedals to use their current favorites spin shoes at home. See our Peloton Accessories Review for some recommended popular pedal options.
