Coveted SoulActivate Studio Classes by SoulCycle are now available on the SoulCycle at-Home Bike. SoulActivate combines HIIT (high-intensity interval training) with strength and resistance training while riding to the beat of the music.
What is SoulActivate
Starting July 20, 2022, SoulCycle at-home bike owners will have an all-new class designed to challenge in an entirely different way with SoulActivate. SoulActivate is an athletic-based high-intensity interval training and strength class in which recovery is a tool, and where resistance is used to unleash the inner athlete in you.

HOW IT WORKS
During this workout, one of the main goals is to perform short bursts of intense exercise activity, followed immediately by a period of active recovery for an equivalent duration or longer. Let your SoulCycle instructor become your coach and your fellow riders your teammates over the 45 or 60-minute session. This work and recovery cycle is repeated multiple times, the exact number depending on your instructor.
Given the athletic intensity of SoulActivate classes it is recommended for riders who have already taken 10 or more SoulCycle classes.
YOU WILL BURN MORE CALORIES
SoulCycle estimates that during a SoulActivate Class riders burn, on average, 150-300 more calories than they would in a regular class. These intense classes build endurance by accelerating and decelerating your heart rate and really pushing you to crank up the resistance.
Two Versions of SoulActivate Classes
SoulActivate is 45-minutes of high-intensity interval and strength training class on the bike. SoulActivate uses heart rate variation, timed interval pushes, and an extra weight series with heavier weights. (8 pounds and up)
SoulActivate Survivor is a longer format. A 60-miniute class that is perfect for anyone looking to get even more out of their session and push themselves harder. Basically, it’s 60-minute version of the classic SoulActivate class workout.
Pushing yourself to Recovery
In a standard SoulCycle class, the goal is to keep your heart rate up the entire time. In Activate, which is 45 minutes or a full hour, it combines intense cycling with strength training utilizing both light and heavy weights during multiple arm series, timed heart rate variation, and intentional recovery.
You work the body’s various energy systems, and ultimately burn fat and build endurance. You are pushing extremely hard but then allowing yourself to recover. with quick breaks.
Activate feels significantly different from a regular class - it also feels good.
By working with Janet Fitzgerald, Senior Master Instructor and Director of Instructor Training, Marvin Foster Jr., Master Instructor and Director of Talent Acquisition and Program Development, and a team of athletic engineers, SoulCycle brought SoulActivate to its studios. Now SoulActivate is available on the SoulCycle At-Home Bike.
Classes will be identified by SoulActivate in the class title. It's preferable to have heavier weights which will allow you to get the maximum energy boost from the class. You can get 8 lb. weights from SoulCycle’s accessories shop or on Amazon with Prime Delivery.
